ART CHALLENGE for 5/18-5/20
Mrs. Flacke shared the following:
The DEAR HERO PROGRAM includes a set of activities for students to complete at home that are tied to themes of hope, compassion, and community. DEAR HERO is based on the letters and artwork that children sent to New York to thank first responders after 9/11. We are asking people to do the same now -- kids and adults can create works of art or write letters to thank those on the front line during the current crisis in their own community and post them on social media using the hashtag #DearHero. The activity just went live and is accessible here: https://911memorial.org/learn/youth-and-families/activities-home/dear-hero -- you are some of the first to see it!
I challenge you to participate in the DEAR HERO PROGRAM by creating a work of art OR writing a letter OR a combination of both to thank those who are on the front lines helping during the pandemic crisis we have all been affected by these last several weeks.
Once you have completed your work of art/letter, post them on social media using #DearHero and don't forget to tag @duewestart and @duewest_es. This is just one of the many ways we can thank those who are helping to take care of all of us at this time. Can't wait for you to show them how much you appreciate all that they are doing!
This has been quite the unusual year to say the least! You all have handled it like champions and I am very proud of you. I am looking forward to seeing you all again in August. Having said that, I will be checking in here a bit throughout the summer--and will be leaving the blog up for you to be able to access the activities I've posted and provided. Remember to select "Optional Art Ideas/Activities" for even more information and art things to do!
